Description
Travel from San Jose to the city of Alajuela for a visit to the church and the monument of Juan Santamaria, national hero of Costa Rica. On the way to the Poas Volcano National Park, you will pass through coffee plantations, flower fields and dairy farms. Visit the impressive, active Poas Volcano with one of the largest craters in the world, almost one mile wide. Besides walking to visit the crater's sightseeing point, you can wander through the cloud forest to the nearby Botos Lagoon, a former crater which today is a picturesque lagoon.
