Bought this vacation 10 months before travel and everything went off without a hitch. The budget level hotels were small but cozy and friendly and were located close to all the main attractions each city had to offer. The intercity train trips were nice and getting around Rome, Florence and Venice proved to be no problem for two Americans carrying lots of suitcases who spoke no Italian. Highly recommend but if you can afford it upgrade the hotels just for the space.

This was the one week package my daughter and I used. It was good value and two out of the three hotels were wonderful (bigger is not always better - Hotel Veneto in Rome and Hotel Arlecchino in Venice were full of European charm and very clean). The breakfasts were more than adequate, although cappacino not as good as the hotel in Rome. Venice was my favorite and had wonderful food there and Rome and Florence, too. We blitzed through Assisi too fast (good thing I'd been there before), but it was so that we could make the museums in Florence that Sunday afternoon since they are closed on Monday. Seeing David was spectacular, but we couldn't make the Uffizi. Next time. Don't miss Basilica San Marco in Venice - go inside, too! and the Murano glass stores. Although some people were not happy with our guide (he could have been a little more discrete about his feelings about the Franciscan friars), he was full of information, enthusiasm, local color and concern for our palates and pocketbooks (got us a good price on the gondola ride the first thing we got into Venice after dropping luggage off). A most fabulous exprience was eating at a restuarant owned by his friend, who is a first-class singer, too! Will get back to you with the name and location in Venice. I've never traveled on a tour before and I would do it again - not as rushed as I expected, but some things had to be saved for another time. (How could anyone say the Italian food in the U.S. is better than in Italy???)

We were traveling on a tighter budget and I was absolutely thrilled at the value I recieved for my money on this vacation. We added an extra night to each of the three cities and were very glad we did - especially in Rome. The continental breakfast at all the hotels was absolutely fabulous and the staff were all very helpful. The location of all the hotels was top notch, and that was the most important thing since we spent little time in the hotels. Our advice is to take advantage of the fabulous free breakfasts, eat pizza in the afternoon and treat yourself to a great dinner and wine at night! I was a little worried about booking everything online and not knowing what we would find - but I am working on booking my next trip using gotoday.com right now and would highly reccomend this trip, especially to those who are on a budget.

Got back 3 weeks ago. We spent the first two weeks of November in Italy and really enjoyed it. This is supposed to be the rainy season, but it only rained one night. The Rome/Florence/Venice combo was superb. Travelling this time of the year, we avoided long lines at the tourist spots. The hotel rooms were a bit small, but clean and staff at all 3 hotels were friendly. Go for the two twin beds, the rooms are a bit bigger than the rooms with a queen bed. A hotel worker confirmed it when I asked about the other rooms being bigger than ours. Then again, with all the many things to see and do, you will not be spending too much time in them. All 3 Hotels had the best locations in regards to train stations and other public transportation. Make sure to take it upon yourself to verify with the hotels your reservations before travelling to Italy. We were shocked when we got to Rome and they told us at the HOTEL (San Remo) that our name was not on their list. Luckily they let us stay that night and next day things were straighten out. I had to call Go Today from Rome that night and their office in Spain took care of it the very next day and proceeded to verify our hotel reservations in Florence and Venice. But we did get scared for awhile. In Florence we stayed at The Diplomat Hotel. This was the only hotel were I was not too happy with the continental breakfast. their coffee was cold, their milk was at room temperature and what they offered was not as good as in Rome and Venice. The San Remo in Rome had very good coffee and the Diana Hotel in Venice had a simple, yet great breakfast and they kept bringing pot after pot of cappucinos.Very easy to get from city to city. Make sure to reserve your train seats while travelling between cities ($12 Euros per tix). Food in italy is not as good italian food in the US. One of our favourite places to eat in Florence was Pastarito Pizzarito; it's right next to the train station (on the west side). It was cheap and very good food. You can get a bottle of good wine for $4.50 Euros. We ended going there 3 out of 5 days. Other helpful tips that might help: Pepperoni pizza in Italy means Roasted Bell Pepper Pizza. There's no ice for sale anywhere. If your ankle/feet are swollen from walking, go to the drugstore and ask for instant ice or ghiaccio instantaneo. Taxis are a lot cheaper than in the US, very reasonable. I was able to experience and confirm rumours that Venice has bad food. The worst food of all three cities, except for the hotel breakfast. We will definetly go back to Europe with go-oday.com. You get the hotel and transportation and the freedom to go or do as you like; not too mention the $3k we saved in comparison to other companies offering guided tours for the same number of nights (14) we spent there. Do your homework before going there and you will enjoy yourself while saving money by being on your own.
