Thanks, go-today, for another great family vacation. My rating is 4 stars, not 5, only because of the hotel in Rome (Flower Garden), which was not as nice as we expected. We flew Lufthansa, and left plenty of time for connections, so had no problems. The train from Rome to Venice gave us a chance to see the countryside, and the seats were roomy, comfortable and had small folding tables to place your books, etc. Our Venice hotel was in a great location (Hotel Diana, San Marco) and was very nice. Going home, we used the vaporetto and the bus from the bus station to get to the Marco Polo airport -- much less expensive than the water taxi, and very efficient. April is a great time for this trip (70's), and have heard the weather can be equally nice in the fall. The crowds weren't overwhelming, when we encountered them -- mainly at the Vatican and at Doge's Palace/Venice. The Tiber River cruise is interesting however it looks like homeless folks camp out along its banks -- we saw a few naked men bathing. The gondola ride in Venice was worth the money. We booked an extra night in Rome since we knew we'd be jet lagged, even then there were sights we had to skip. Eating in Venice is expensive (everyone had seating charges, in addition to the tip which was included in the bill), but if we go back again we'd add in another night or two.

Everything was fine. The hotels were rated 4 star but honestly they were 3. The air travel took longer than I expected but left on time. Maybe because I was pickpocketed in Venice I was a little dissapointed in the trip. Overall I would spend more to get better direct flights and nicer accommodations.

This was a wonderful trip! The Rome & Venice special was just right for us. We didn't feel like we had to rush in order to see everything in each city. We had enough time. We definately got our money's worth! We would do it again in a heartbeat!

The hotels (Nazionale in Rome & Liassidi Palace in Venice) were wonderful. I'd give them both 5 stars. Both were in a great location - we literally could walk to everything we wanted to see, beautifully decorated and the staff was wonderful. Both offered quite an extensive breakfast, much more than I expected for a continental breakfast. Both hotels had quite a cosmopolitan clientale. The train from Rome to Venice (Eurostar) was great, but I'd like to see you offer the option of upgrading to first class seats as part of your package. It's more expensive, but if you offer it as an option, then it doesn't matter. We were really glad we upgraded for the 4.5 hour journey between Rome and Venice. My only complaint about this trip was the air travel. I'm not sure if it's just Air France, but we encountered MAJOR problems - so much so, that I'd rate the transportation part of our trip a 2. First, we arrived in Paris late which reduced our 50 minute connection time to 20 minutes. Since you have to go through Passport Control before connecting to your next flight we were still in line (yes even early on a Sunday morning) when our connecting flight left. We had to wait three hours for the next flight since there were so many people in the same situation that were ahead of us in line - they filled up the next two flights to Rome before we got to the desk. This of course made us late for our transportation from the airport and we had to wait 45 minutes for the next van. By the time we got to our hotel in Rome - it was 4 p.m. - and we'd lost almost an entire day because of these problems. I strongly urge you not to book any connecting flights through CDG-Roissy unless with less than 2 hours between connections - maybe even 2.5 - 3 hours - no matter what the airline says, they can not control the time it takes to get through passport control and security. We encountered problems on our return flight from Venice as well. We left Venice an hour late because Air France was waiting for a small commuter-type plane to arrive with its passengers. By the time they arrived, we'd lost our departure window and had to wait a bit longer to take off. We originally had 75 minutes between flights and the flight attendant assured us that the pilot would make up enough time in flight to give us at least 45 minutes - plenty of time for a connection. Unfortunately the Venice ticket counter wouldn't give us boarding passes for the overseas leg from CDG-Roissy. This meant not only did we have to go through passport control and security AGAIN, but we had to go to the counter to get our boarding passes. If it weren't for the heroics of three Air France employees - we'd never have made the flight. They literally walked us through passport control and security so we could make the flight. However, come to find out we really didn't need to rush because after we got onto the bus that would take us to our plane at least 30 people got on who were in the same boat. The next trip I book with you - and I will use your services again - I'll be requesting at least 2.5 hours between connecting flights if we travel through CDG-Roissy. Luckily the wonderful time we had in Rome & Venice outweigh the pains of the travel. Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback - keep up the great job.

The trip was great! The hotels that we were booked in were wonderful hotels. The Grand Beverly Hills in Rome was not that close to attractions but it worked out fine. They have a great little bar and restaurant and the people there are very nice. The Palace Bonvecchiati in Venice was awesome. Right in the rear of Piazza de San Marco and the hotel was very posh and the employees were wonderful and very helpful. There was a ton to see in just 3 nights in each city but it was well worth all the hustle and bustle. Would definately recommend this trip to anyone!

This was our 2nd vacation with go-today.com and was excellent (I'd say 4.5 stars). The Hotel Nazionale and Liassidi Palace were both wonderful hotels with large rooms, king-size beds, and nice bathrooms, even by American standards. Hotel staff at both hotels were extremely accomodating and helpful. Both hotels have excellent locations, with the Nazionale being near the Houses of Parliament and therefore very safe and quiet; the Liassidi is a 5' walk to San Marco square. Breakfast buffets at both are good with an assortment of breads, pastries, meats, fruit and eggs. The main negative was the Pompeii (or Capri, which is on the same bus) day tour, which is provided by Vastours. It started badly, with the shuttle arriving 30' late at our hotel; we barely made the bus. Overall, only 3 hours of the 12 hour itinerary was devoted to Pompeii. The rest? 6 hours of transit to and from Rome incl. 2 30' coffee stops, a 30' stop at a coral cameo factory (not shown on the info)with a blatant kickback to the tour operator, 30 minutes of driving around in circles on the waterfront of Naples, 60 minutes of waiting for the guides and return of the Capri tour group and 60 minutes for lunch, which was at a tourist trap near Pompeii and easily the worst meal I've had in some time. The guide at Pompeii was actually from another tour company. She was not very informative so we left the group, bought a guidebook and explored the ruins ourselves. Finally, even though we were told we'd be returned to our hotel, we were dropped off about 8 blocks away in a neighborhood we hadn't explored yet. Honestly I'm not sure if any other organized tour is much better - the other tour customers at Pompeii seemed to be having similar experiences. So if you're really interested in learning about Pompeii I'd recommend driving a car or taking the train/bus to Naples, stopping at the Archaeological Museum there to see the artifacts (there's none at Pompeii) and then driving on to Herculaneum (Ercolano) and then Pompeii. One final tip: there are only 2 IC trains between Rome and Venice each day that the standard train ticket with the package is valid for. For all the others, which are Eurostar Italia, you'll need to pay for a $24 upgrade at the station and reserve seats.

We just returned from Rome and Venice. Best Vacation ever. We stayed at the Del Senato in Rome and Palace Bonvecchiati in Venice.Rooms were beautiful and large by European standards. Breakfast Buffets were terrific. This was our 3rd trip with go-today.com and will be using them again and again. Thanks again for a wonderful trip.
Review Provided by: Michael Lipschutz who traveled on 11/4/2005
I just returned today from our trip to Rome-Venice with my 4 friends. We stayed at category a hotels and found them to be fine. Although The Zone is a bit difficult to find, hidden on a back street in a residential area so we had The Zone send a shuttle to the airport to pick us up. I did it all through their own website-we emailed back and forth and they were always prompt in replying to my many questions. The Arlechinno Hotel is so cozy and in a great location right on the canals and walking distance to the bus station and railway is only 1 boat stop away from the hotel. It was a wonderful vacation. I've used go-today now for 5 trips and no problems and great accomodations. Thanks.
