Prague can be done in 2 days, Budapest cannot. I am already planning my visit back to Budapest on the 6 day trip. I wanted the "train experience", which was fine, but I lost 9 hours that I could have been in Budapest sipping wine and eating delicious Hungary food. Cancel the train and take a flight. US dollar can still buy alot in both towns.

We planned very little before we left and our trip went very smoothly. All our flights were on time and going through security and customs went quickly and without incident. We flew out on Delta and returned on Air France. Air France plane was more comfortable. Hotels were fine, good locations and the breakfasts in the morning were excellent. Service and hotel staff were very hospitable. We really enjoyed Prague but found Budapest a little gloomy. You have to be a little adventuresome to do this because there is not a lot of English spoken and you have to be willing to try and figure things out for yourself. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed the history, architecture and people of both cities.

Prague and Budapest are amazing cities, and the hotels were fantastic-just don't book through here. Our connecting flight was cancelled so we had to drive 3 hours to JFK. We made it just in teh nick of time, and when it was our turn at the counter, the woman told us that the tickets were with a different airline. GO Today gave us Delta tickets, but they were actually booked on Czech airlines. We had to run to the other terminal and when we got there they informed us that what gotoday had given us weren't real tickets, and had to mess around on the computer while i cried at the counter. We made itwith 2 mintues before we had to board the plane. When we had to get from Prague to Budapest they gave us tickets for the wrong trainstation! Once again we had to run to make it to our train and arrived just in time. We are flying home tomorrow and I have my fingers crossed that this theme of getting the wrong tickets won't happen again.

The trip went smoothly, except for our return flight with KLM. We were refused boarding, due to insufficient seating on a replacement aircraft. Our paperwork was all in order, and the hotels were just right.
